From the moment I walked into Meat BBQ in Old Town Lansing, I knew I was in for something special. The vibe instantly hits you—walls decked out with Star Wars memorabilia and rock ‘n’ roll flair, giving it a cozy but electric energy. I’ve been to BBQ joints across the country, but this place honestly ranks at the top. I ordered the meat platter with an extra helping of their famously lean brisket—yes, lean brisket! As someone who avoids fatty cuts, this was a game-changer. Juicy, flavorful, and perfectly smoked. We also dove into mac & cheese, jalapeno coleslaw, and a plate of fries smothered in pulled pork, bacon, gravy, and cheese. Every bite was heaven. The mac & cheese especially stood out—creamy and rich without being overbearing. The service deserves its own shoutout. Brett and Olivia went above and beyond—super friendly, answered all my curious questions, and made killer suggestions. It’s clear they’re passionate about the place and know the menu inside and out. We were so impressed, we went back the same week—and the second visit was just as spectacular. It's rare to find a place that nails food, service, and atmosphere so completely. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this spot is absolutely worth the stop.

Drive here specifically for the BBQ style food and we were definitely not disappointed. The BBQ Ribs and the Brisket were to die for! Awesome food, good draft beers - we would recommend and come by again.

Love this place for lunch or dinner! We always order from the meat platter. The sides dishes are amazing. We ordered pulled pork, jalapenos cheddar sausage (extra meat), fries, spicy cream corn, sweet/tangy slaw (extra side). The food does take some time to come out. Definitely worth the wait for it! Make sure you show up early. This place gets packed very fast. They do not take any reservations.

This was a fun place to eat! The building is unique and lots to look at. The wait staff were pleasant (except for the rather grumpy hostess), attentive, and helpful. We had the "bruschetta" ( which is really amazing potatoe skins) and the sampler platter, which we split among 3 of us. A great way to try menu items and their plethora of sauces!

This is the best barbecue restaurant that I have ever been to..... Truly, this is the best place that serves brisket I have ever been to the atmosphere is absolutely amazing Brett you once again have the most phenomenal suggestions on food and drink. Your service is top-notch. The atmosphere is top-notch. The food is top-notch. It shows that you have employees that care about what they do and their interaction with the customers I will continue to adjust this place to everybody that I know the crazy thing is is that anytime I bring it up? Everybody goes here. I find it hard to eat brisket because I don’t like fatty meat. They have a lean portion. This is the only place where I’ve ever seen a lien portion. I waited to do this review because I wanted to see if my opinion was gonna change I absolutely love this place. Top down atmosphere service and food were all top-notch price was very reasonable. Quality was beyond imagine. I want to give a shout out to Olivia and Brett they were great advocates and stewards of this restaurant. I had a lot of annoying questions and I know I usually do, but they were very knowledgeable about the history of the restaurant the atmosphere of the restaurant in extremely knowledgeable about the suggestions that they were making. We got the meat platter with the addition of a second helping of brisket. The coleslaw and mac & cheese was great. We also got the fries, covered in gravy with pulled pork, bacon and cheese. The atmosphere is A combination of hard rock in Star Wars litter, the walls and the ceilings of this little restaurant. It’s absolutely an amazing intricate atmosphere with little things hidden all over the place. we went back twice to see if the experience was the same. The second time was even as good as the first. I started talking about this place to people at work. It is a well-known restaurant in old town. Lansing Guy Fieri even spent a little bit of time there. and has recognized this restaurant. I don’t give five star ratings very often but I will give a five star rating to this wonderful place.

Still deserves 5 stars but I cant help but think the Rueben deserves smoked pastrami rather than pork belly. It's just missing that signature flavor. Egg rolls were fun. Mac & Cheese will be repeat order Pulled pork was solid The Death Metal sauce needs to be tossed. It's just not good at all

That place was awesome the first time I went! The old-school rock tapestries and concert posters were killer. The staff was super chill and our food came out perfect; it was amazing! We got a sampler platter and it was the best thing ever! I had such a blast! I'd totally recommend it to everyone I know!

Best BBQ I've had in Michigan! Love the turkey, brisket, sausage and the each cobbler! Great place to meet up with friends or family for good food and a fun atmosphere. The service is great, the staff is friendly and helpful. great drink & beer selection to enjoy as well. Great Bloody Mary! Highly recommend!
